Sudan Reconstruction: Priority Granted to Egyptian Companies to Boost Economic Cooperation

The Sudanese government has decided to grant Egyptian companies priority in implementing Sudan reconstruction projects, aiming to accelerate economic recovery and strengthen regional partnerships.

The decision followed meetings of the joint trade and industry committee in Cairo, which discussed a package of measures to deepen economic integration and support investment flows underpinning Sudan reconstruction.

Standards Harmonization and Logistics

Both sides agreed to harmonize technical standards and recognize conformity certificates, expand cross-border truck and bus traffic, and establish logistics zones to facilitate trade.

Banking Coordination and Financial Inclusion

They also discussed updating the memorandum of understanding between the Egyptian and Sudanese central banks to include governance, financial inclusion, and AML/CFT frameworks—strengthening the institutional environment for Sudan reconstruction.

The two sides affirmed that these steps will raise bilateral trade and enhance economic cooperation, with the next committee session set to be held in Khartoum in the first half of 2027.
