Sudan’s Gezira State Plans International Airport and 10 Industrial Cities
Sudan’s Gezira State has unveiled a strategic development plan for 2026 aimed at transforming its urban and economic landscape in secure and liberated areas, positioning the state as a regional investment hub.
The plan includes building an international airport in Wad Madani to strengthen air connectivity and attract foreign investment, as well as establishing 10 industrial cities built to modern global standards to support local manufacturing and create thousands of jobs.
The state also plans to expand vertical housing projects to curb urban sprawl and provide suitable housing for citizens and displaced people.
Additionally, the roadmap includes creating a free zone to boost Sudanese exports and constructing three solar power plants with a combined capacity of 100 megawatts to ensure stable electricity supply for factories and homes.
