Sudan Raises Daily Interbank Transfer Cap to 3 Million Pounds
The Central Bank of Sudan has raised the daily cap on interbank transfers via the BBN system to 3 million Sudanese pounds, up from 1 million, aiming to support economic activity and ease money flows within the banking sector.
The bank said the adjustment to interbank transfers reflects growing transaction volumes and is intended to improve the efficiency of banking services for both individuals and institutions.
Banking System Development
The move is part of a broader plan to modernize Sudan’s banking infrastructure and reduce restrictions on financial transactions in line with market needs.
Resumption of Electronic Clearing
At the same time, several banks resumed electronic clearing operations under new regulations for check processing, with clearing scheduled on Sundays and Wednesdays for local-currency checks only.
Analysts believe raising the interbank transfers cap will improve liquidity and boost confidence in Sudan’s banking system.
